now and then

For a number of truly boring reasons, I can not load any new photos onto my new computer.  The main reason is that my new computer is actually someone's oldie but goodie and doesn't have a card reader.  Add a dash of 'when I get time I'll pop down to the shop and get a usb converter thing-y', with a sprinkle of boy-child-crushing-crippled-yet-able-to-load-photos-laptop-under-monstrous-foot, and we've got a failure to new image.

Technology.  I am so over it.

The upshot of having an old computer was being able to add a ton of extra bits that increased our memory storage to nearly infinite.  That means that all the digital photos I've taken over the last eight years are suddenly all here, together at last, just inside the one magic box.  Except for, of course, all the pics I've taken over the last two weeks.

(I wonder how many photos I can hold on the one card in my camera...  Starting to feel a little worry here.)

Since I can not add any new photos, I've decided to travel back in time and post some from exactly... doing the math here... April 10, 2006...  seven years ago!  Photos, never before seen on the Internet!

Actually, that's a lie.  I think a few of these have been previewed.  I know for sure the Inigo Mantoya painting was, as it was a part of a Princess Bride themed craft swap on Craftster.

A few other things included in the Princess Bride swap package I sent away to... someone... are pictured below.  I am sorry I can not remember who I sent these to but seven years is a long time.  I've lost a lot of capacity for remembering things during that time.  Children have turned large swaths of my brain into barely functioning mush.  My lost memories are probably all hanging out in the same place that all the time that I used to have to do such things such as craft swaps.

Anyway, swap stuff.

The painting was appliqued to a tote bag, some buttons were made, and a cloth notebook cover with the quote, 'There's something I ought to tell you.  I'm not left-handed either.'  If you want to get a better look at it, you'll have to pop over to Craftster and search for it (my handle there is Vegbee).  If you've never been, it's a fantastic resource for learning to sew and make all sorts of crafty awesomeness.  I visited in awhile but I assume it's still going strong.

While I may have lost my memories and free time, I have gained a lot of delightful wrinkles.

Ah, all the things senior I would say to new mommy me if I could.  Wise advice to help guide me through the earliest years of my children's lives. I would say, "I just want you to feel you’re doing well. I hate for people to die embarrassed."

Then I would add, "Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something."

And, "Sonny, true love is the greatest thing, in the world-except for a nice MLT – mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe. They’re so perky, I love that."

And, "Have fun storming the castle!"

Because I've always had a great sense of humour.

  1. Those photos are awesome :0) It sucks when technology doesn't play well. I sometimes wish I could just give up all the technological tie-ups, but then I wonder, what would I do all day?
