into the next1

Hello all,

I am typing this with an on screen keyboard, s-l-o-w-l-y, one little mouse click at a time, because the computer I bought to replace the one that Birdie fried with a sippy cup of water kept giving me the blue screen of death and is still caught in some corporate limbo and there is still 1 to 4 weeks wait minimum before we hear if they are going to replace it.  So, here I am typing s-l-o-w-l-y with a pointer while hitting the backspace button every 4 seconds because one of the effects of giving my laptop a shower is that the "1" key gets stuck and spits out "1"s continuously1.

I'm number 1 at pathetic.

Since this typing thing is so s-l-o-w and labourious, posting has been nearly non-existent.  You may have1 noticed.  For me, considering my usual verbosity, this keyboard madness is a little bit like going to shift into fifth gear on the highway and accidentally gearing down to first.  Disconcerting at the least.  I hope I haven't damaged my motor.

I would like to assure you that we1 are still here, sewing has happened, and photos taken.  Normalcy will be restored... s-l-o-w-l-y.

Happy New Year all, and may brilliant ideas visit you everyday.

ps, this brief post took 45 minutes  to compose.  So very pathetic.

  1. Hi! I read your blog often, but have never commented. Just want you to know that I am smokeythemagnificent's mother, and that I made your Solar Dress for her daughter for Christmas. It was such a resounding success that my 15 year old made her another one yesterday. Perfect for our summer Christmas here in New Zealand.
And be encouraged in your educational journey with your children - we have lived the life of "home-learning" with all of our 6 daughters, and are so grateful to have been able to do it. It just gets better and better!

  2. This made me smile...you are very patient. Maybe the computer will be all better soon and "normal" will return.

  3. I have lived through laptop gone awry due to small children and liquid. I feel your pain. to bad you don't have a friend who you could call up and dictate posts to LOL!
I think there are a few things you can do to get past the blue screen of death-but they don't always work and not always for long. I have learned a few tricks due to the fact that my kids seem to find ways to cause this evil blue screen. one of the easiest to try is to turn it off and back on keep tapping f1 and see if it resets the computer back to the original settings. good luck! may the new year be full nonblue screens!!

  5. My machine thinks it is Christmas holiday too and is on strike-- but fortunately with different (not-so-bad) symptoms as yours :) Can you do a search and replace function after you type a chunk? Find 1 and Replace with blank (ie just don't fill in that replace with field with anything) Don't know if my explanation makes sense...
