Birdie's nest

Photobucket

I was going to ask you all about how I can use up my little piles of serger scraps.  I find, sometimes, they are a little too pretty to just toss in the bin.  Using in paper making, weaving, and spinning yarn all come to mind but also present as a bit labour intensive for this particular moment in my life.  What else could I do with them?

However, I am not going to ask now since the kids already grabbed them.  I guess I'm not the only one who thought they looked interesting.  Smootch had plunked them down on the table where she was going to do some drawing, looking a whole lot like she had a plan.

Whatever her purpose was, though, I never did find out.  Birdie Boy came along with his own paper and scissors,

and before you could say, 'pass me the glue stick,' laid claim to the entire pile.

The question of how to make the scraps stay on paper was solved by Smootch.

Turns out if you dump enough glue on, almost anything will stay put.

It's a good thing to know.

Just remember to allow to dry before mounting on the wall.

  2. Hmm - your wall looks like my walls - full of kid art! I'm going to start saving my serger scraps for my girls too. We like to stick bits of things to clear contact paper and then cover it with another piece of clear contact paper (sticky paper my daughter calls it).

  3. One good thing to use the scraps for is filling :) If you sew anything that needs to be stuffed, scraps are great!

  6. omg. this is so awesome. I am your new biggest fan. I was just looking at my serger waste basket the other day wondering what I could do with all of it! I'm really enjoying all your tutorials!

  7. Looks great! I like to save my quilt block trimmings, which look similar to that. They look nice in a glass jar. I love your art wall. What are you using to stick the art up with?

  11. you could also use those scraps in baskets (gift or easter). It's better than the plastic grass or using tissue paper.
