Tutorial? Ummm. (Here's me distracting you with a freebie)

Hey, I bet you came by today looking for a tutorial! Well, I do have one on the go, and it does actually have something to do with sewing. In fact, it's pretty kick ass, if I do say so myself, but it needs a few more days of design tweaking. So, if you'll bare with me, how's about you say, 'It's okay, Vegbee, to be a couple of days late with the tute, and all we'll ask in return is to giveaway a pattern or two.'

Which sounds good to me.

I haven't done any giveaways on my new ePatterns yet (which are old patterns, but I'm figuring the whole thing out before I get going on some new stuff), so if you would like to leave a comment on this post I will do a random number draw twice on thursday nite my time (July 9) and send two winners their ePattern of choice. Which will be either the Tiered Patchwork Twirler or Revolutions Frock - check them out and choose your favorite now, just in case ;)

Good luck, and talk to you thursday :)

***********************************************************************

Hello! I've closed the comments (metaphorically) and have drawn two random numbers, thanks to random.org. The winners are Hilary and Serena.

Hilary, I will send you a Revolutions Frock ePattern as soon as you share your email with me. Contact me at vegbee@littleprintdesigns.com please!

Serena, I've just emailed you a link to your Revolutions Frock ePattern.

Thank you all for playing along and all the really sweet things you said. I feel honored to have so many people reading this little blog. You keep me going somedays. Truly. Hats off to you!

Speaking of hats, I should have the new tutorial up on friday or saturday (or sunday :O). Until then, cheers!

  10. I'm so jealous of your kids and all their handmade clothes. I tried your twirl skirt once (http://bittersweet-memories-garrettfamily.blogspot.com/2009/01/dress-for-darcy.html) but haven't made another yet. Definitely need some more practice to look like yours.

  14. of course i love them both, but i'd have to go with the patchwork twirler for my girl, she went to an outdoor concert with us in something similar (but that's getting too small) and was thrilled to twirl around to the music!

  15. Look forward to the new tutorial! I actually have both those dresses on my wishful to-do list. And I have to say, I won your Fairweather coat pattern a while back and I LOVE the pattern! I finally found the perfect shell and lining fabrics...vintage from a yardsale. Woo! And it is coming along fabulously! YOu do great work.Keep it up!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oooh...that Twirler is DIVINE.

No rush on the tute. Can't rush a tute, sweetie - you get bad tutes. ;-)

  36. I <3 your tutorials. So easy to understand & follow. I'd be excited if I could win either of your patterns.

  37. Recently started lurking on your blog. Made my daughter a peasant shirt and tiered skirt using your patterns (a test run with a vintage sheet http://alazyknitter.wordpress.com/2009/06/21/peasant-girl/ ). Most importantly, she loved it and I plan to make her many more. I'm really enjoying your blog and won't hold the lack of tute against you, promise.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Both are great patterns but I'd have to pick the patchwork twirler since I purchased the other. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Your tutorials are great! I love reading about your life. You have inspired me!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Lovely! I would pick the Revolutions Frock. I'm fascinated by the neckline.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Loved your patchwork twirlers when I first saw them on Craftster. Have been saving colorful scraps since then (with two daughters I have to save plenty in the interests of harmony). I hadn't looked closely at the Revolutions Frock until this post - both my girls would love it - so that's the pattern I'd choose today. And... hang the expense - I'd go out and buy the fabric so we could have a bit of instant gratification!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Love both of your patterns! The Revolutions Frock is definitely my favorite though. Thanks for such a great site full of projects.

    ReplyDelete

  50. 'It's okay, Vegbee, to be a couple of days late with the tute, and all we'll ask in return is to giveaway a pattern or two.'

I love reading your blog and seeing your creations, they are gorgeous. If I was to win I'd pick the gorgeous Tiered Patchwork Twirler, it is delightful, my daughter would love me making it for her :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. I hate leaving a comment on your 'win something if you leave a comment' post. It feels like being greedy. But I console myself with the fact that I've commented before when it wouldn't directly benefit me, and I've left something in your tip jar.
So here I am, shamelessly hoping to win a pattern from Vegbee. Both frocks are delightful. :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. I haven't won anything yet. Love your blog (both of them) mellenewing@yahoo.com

    ReplyDelete
  61. vegbee, you're my favorite role model... creative genius + generous sharer of tutes & patterns + vegan cookie maven = my hero! i'm in love with both dresses, but if I had to choose i'd say the revolutions frock wins by a nose. thanks, and i'm really looking forward to your new tute.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Better late than Never! So good luck with the Tute! My personal choicen if am lucky would be 'Revolutions frock' especially for the yoke bodice (sounds wierd as revolutions refers to the skirt part of it, which is circle skirt) but i like the bodice more, and haven't done a proper circular yoke till now, so would love instructions on it

    ReplyDelete
  65. Coo! Another giveaway... and another chance to try and win a revolutions pattern (Hey if I win, I'll happily take whatever I win, I never win anything!)

    ReplyDelete

You write so conversationally and with wit. Now that you are all flattered, I will say that I can't let the opportunity for a free copy of one of your patterns slip by me. I would love to make the Tiered Patchwork Twirler as I have already purchased the Revolutions Frock.

    http://burkeshires.blogspot.com/2009/07/shirring-help-my-first-givaway.html
I've seen your tutes on shirring, and one one, you said to cut 2 times bigger, and another you said 1.5...
I LOVE the things you make, so I'd LOVE your input! (or your readers, you have very talented readers...)
to say thanks, I'm doing my first giveaway (inspired by all of yours)
    thanks!
    Ramona

    ReplyDelete
  128. Ramona,
    be right over!
(I just re-read the shirring tute and I go with 2x bigger. I'm not sure where I say 1.5x, but shirring itself is just a gather, so it matters only the amount of 'puff' you want for your style versus the ability of the elastic to retain it's tension.)
