Hi All!
I've made the draw. Congratuations to Laura, who is so hardcore she repaired her own serger (that just makes me tingley all over!)
Laura, I've just sent an email your way. You should let me know if you did not receive it.
Everyone else, thank you thank you for the very sweet comments and for playing along :)

I will be very soon putting up a new pattern for sale on Etsy. Before you all go rushing over to buy it, because I'm sure you will, hold on for a minute. I want to tell you a bit about it first and then get you to enter my giveaway for a free pdf pattern.
The Spitfire Playdress is a simple shape, designed for easy sewing and comfortable wear, in US children's sizes 3-8. Smootch calls these tee-shirt dresses her 'derby dresses' because she says she likes to wear them while roller skating. All I know is that it's the first thing she'll reach for in her drawer in the morning and it's incredible hard to make her sit still to get a proper photo.
In stretchy and soft knit fabric, this playdress has a classic tee shirt top that gently slops into a mid-thigh length dress and ends with a girlie (and super fast) lettuce edge ruffle. Perfect for girls who have some serious playing to do and the sewer who wants to make something their girl will love but does not have a lot of time.
Looks great with leggings, pants or plain bare legs and it's easy to slip on and off (no back buttons or zippers) for those dress-up crazed fashionista princesses.
For those of you who asked for a pattern to accompany this tutorial, this pdf pattern also includes instructions on how to use the pattern to reconstruct an adult xl tee shirt into the Spitfire Playdress.
So, there you go: simple, easy, fast, comfortable, happy.
If you would like to enter the ePattern free giveaway, leave a comment at the bottom. I will make a random draw on Tuesday night (March 8) after I get the kidlets into bed (about 9:00 pm MST).

ReplyDeleteAwesome giveaway! And if I don't win, I'll be looking for it in the shop.
My daughter is finally old enough that she is interested in wearing dresses and it is a practical option (because she is taller, more coordinated, and no longer has a huge cloth diaper butt.) I have started thinking about simple, practical designs. I like this simple pattern! I am so impressed that you find time to sew things from start to finish, and also make a pattern in multiple sizes!

ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to make a dress exactly like this for a while, just didn't have a pattern and didn't want to waste time or fabric making one.
ReplyDeleteI love it perfect for toilet training.
ReplyDeleteI love that simple little dress. When my sister was about 4 or 5, she lived in similar dresses to that. My mom had to make her one for everyday of the week. And in the wintertime, she would just throw on tights and legwarmers and still wear those dresses!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for my little girl to get old enough for that... well I guess I can wait... she's growing so fast already... but still... super cute!
that's the kind of dress my daughter would love.
