First off, I'm making a few changes here to help the front page load a bit faster. Please bear with me while I get it sorted out.
Second,
New pants!
For those of you who have been tuned in long enough to remember Birdie's trouser saga, you'll be happy to know that this round has been less dramatic. I've only made, oh, five pairs?
Think that's enough?
Funny thing about potty-learnin' kids. They can go through that five pairs on a particularly thirsty day.
Still, most days are good. Dry-ish. Birdie's enjoying his new freedom AND having his ankles covered.
So, a bit about the pants. They are a one piece pattern (no side seam), much like the Birdie Britches, but with an added waistband with a partial flat front.
I've been playing with the flat front pants and decided that instead of a whole flat front, I'd rather have just a flat 1/4. More security, but still comfortable under the belly.
I also previously tried to elimate the waistband entirely, but it ended up being easier just to sew it on anyway.
Just to head off the questions, yes, I am going to make this into a pdf pattern and, yes, I am posting a tutorial soon on how to add pockets to a pattern.
(Okay, you maybe weren't going to ask that, but isn't it nice to know anyway?)
Back soon!
They look great! Thanks for making it a pattern, my boy likes his pants long too :)
ReplyDeleteI like them! I am a big fan of your Willow Wayfarers too. I was trying to figure out the other day how many pairs I have made from the pattern...maybe 20? More? I love that pattern!! You're a genius :)
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute and just what we need for a wedding next week! Excited to see the pattern! and ps my son goes through that many pairs per day, too...
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pants!!!! Esp the flat front!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried these on a girl? Just wondering if they would be a little short waisted or too bulky in the front regions for a girl. My girls live in pants and I would love a flat front pattern for them too. P.S just bought your t-shirt dress pattern and love it. Will be making that one about 10 times per season !
ReplyDeletehave you seen these pants tutorials?

You are so talented...but I have to say the best thing about this post is that beautiful quilt on the bed!!! I love old quilts, is this something you made or your mom or your grandma? Its lovely.
ReplyDeleteRPH, It was made by my husband's grandmother for him. It is lovely :) I have blogged about it before, if you want to check out http://indietutes.blogspot.com/2009/06/my-favorite-quilt.html
