Have I mentioned we had a bit of a birthday party on the weekend?
Birdie insisted on wearing his party dress. In blue, of course, because he is so masculine.
We all endorse the cupcake cones. Easiest serve and clean up ever. Plus, they were pretty good too. For Mrs. James, who wanted my creamy buttercream frosting recipe, you'll have to consult Duncan Hines in aisle 3. Try looking under the 'Home-Style" section.
Birdie's party theme was blue candy and orange candy. Spoken just like that in slurry toddler-ese, 'Blue Candy 'en Orange Candy for my birfday.' Repeated endlessly for a month prior. For those of us who grew up near a certain hockey team, this particular colour combination could only mean one thing. I had a resistance to it that went right down to my celluar being. But I got over it, eventually. Easier since Birdie wanted light blue with brilliant orange, it wasn't too terrible.
At least it wasn't pink and purple.
Blue and orange turns out to be a difficult colour to get all exact about. Hard to find just blue and just orange candies and juice around town. At Easter time. In the end, it turned out easier to train the guests to see all yellow as orange and all purple as blue. They got the point soon enough anyway hearing Birdie repeat, 'yah, blue candy 'en orange candy ONLY.'
And then he ran around with a green coloured sucker in his mouth, brought by his grandmother.
Happy Birthday my beautiful, determined boy.
Happy Birthday to Birdie!
ReplyDeleteI hope your little one had a fantastic birthday!
ReplyDeleteI first stumbled upon your blog when I googled "soule mama perfect" and found that older post you wrote, which was so funny and honest -- I just loved it. I still read her blog and love it -- but man, if she could just stop having kids so I could get on with MY life...lol.
Anyway, I'm just learning to sew so I'll be checking out all of your cool tutorials. Thanks so much for providing them!
I think our sons (ours just celebrated his 3rd birthday this past Saturday) are so very much alike (and I love his party dress, my son would be jealous).
